Amussu is a 100-minute Moroccan film in Tamazight with English subtitles, produced in 2019 and directed by Nader Bouhmouche. The film shows the resilient villagers of Imider in southeastern Morocco, who resist with the little means they have – songs, dry bread, weekly protests, a flimsy camera, a film festival, and endless ingenuity, fearing that their fragile oasis might disappear and their livelihoods be destroyed as a result of the rapacious silver mine that has siphoned aquifer water for decades, drying out the almond groves that belong to a small Amazigh community.
