Dr. Akram Ijla (originally from Palestine) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Conservation and Cultural Heritage Research at Uppsala University in Sweden. His areas of expertise include the adaptive reuse of historic buildings, sustainable development of historic preservation, cultural heritage in conflicts, and cultural heritage studies of indigenous peoples. His doctoral dissertation “The Impact of Local Historical Designation on Residential Property Value” was published in 2008. His current research is titled Cultural Heritage Activities: New goals and benefits for economy and society.
